What is Mono Orbit Awards?


Mono Orbit Awards is an international monochrome photography award dedicated to the built environment.

The award focuses on architecture, infrastructure, industry, public space and the physical structures that shape contemporary life.


Who can participate?

The award is open to photographers worldwide.

Both emerging and established photographers are welcome.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older.


What are the categories?


Documentary

Photography based on observation of real environments, places and structures.


Conceptual

Photography built around interpretation, symbolism or artistic investigation of the built environment.


What kind of photographs can be submitted?

Mono Orbit Awards accepts monochrome photography only.

Architecture, infrastructure, industry, public space, urban environments and other human-made structures are all eligible.

Each edition is built around a specific theme announced by the organisers.


How often does the award take place?

Mono Orbit Awards runs twice a year.

Each edition introduces a new theme.


How many photographs can I submit?

One photograph per entry.

Multiple entries are permitted.

Each photograph requires a separate submission and entry fee.


What is the entry fee?

The entry fee is €20 per photograph.


Do I need to create an account?

Yes. All participants must create an account before submitting work.


Are colour photographs accepted?

No. Only monochrome photography is eligible.


Are AI-generated images accepted?

No. AI-generated images are not eligible.

Submitted work must originate from a photograph created by the participant using a camera.

Basic photographic post-processing is permitted.

Participants may be asked to provide an original file and sign an authorship declaration.


How are photographs judged?

Entries are reviewed after the submission period closes.

The jury evaluates each photograph independently based on visual quality, originality, relevance to the theme and strength of observation.


Do photographers keep copyright?

Yes. Photographers retain full copyright of their work.

By entering the award, participants grant Mono Orbit Awards permission to publish submitted photographs solely for purposes related to the promotion of the award and its results.


How are winners announced?

Selected, shortlisted and awarded photographs are published on the Mono Orbit Awards website and official communication channels.
