THE ORBIT 12
TWELVE PERSPECTIVES.
ONE MONOCHROME PHOTOGRAPHIC CONSTELLATION.
THE ORBIT 12 is the official selection of MONO ORBIT AWARDS, bringing together twelve distinct photographic perspectives recognised for their originality, intention and response to the edition's theme.
Three photographers receive the principal awards. Nine are recognised as Selected. Together, they form a continuing record of independent photographic vision.
01 - THE IDEA
Recognition should create possibility.
Photography awards often conclude with an announcement. We believe recognition should extend beyond a single result.
THE ORBIT 12 connects photographic recognition with publication, editorial visibility and a lasting place within an independent photographic archive.
The selection is not defined by professional status, equipment, reputation or social media following. What matters is the photograph and the perspective behind it.
02 - THE PUBLICATION
From selection to a lasting record.
All twelve selected photographers will be featured in a dedicated photographic book published through Blurb, alongside a digital catalogue documenting the edition.
The publication brings together different photographic languages within one considered visual narrative, preserving the work and perspectives that shaped the edition.
THE PHOTOGRAPHIC BOOK
A dedicated printed publication featuring the twelve selected photographers and their work.
THE DIGITAL CATALOGUE
An accessible digital publication documenting the selected photographs and the edition.
MONO ORBIT / EDITORIAL
Editorial presentation through MONO ORBIT and MONO ORBIT AWARDS, connecting selected photographers with a wider audience.
THE PERMANENT ARCHIVE
A continuing online record of selected photographers and their work across editions.
03 - THE THREE AWARDS
Supporting independent photographic practice.
Three photographers from THE ORBIT 12 receive the principal awards, sharing a total cash prize fund of €2,100. The awards are intended to support independent photographic work and encourage further artistic exploration.
The three award recipients also receive individual editorial interviews, expanded photographic coverage and an invitation to participate in the jury of the following edition.
04 - INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
The photograph comes first.
The first edition, EMISSION, is independently judged by POSTRH, founder and sole juror of MONO ORBIT AWARDS. All eligible photographs are considered through one shared selection process, without separate categories or public voting.
Selection is guided by originality, photographic intention, visual strength and the relationship to the edition's theme. The process reflects an independent photographic perspective rather than a collective consensus.
05 - THE JUROR
Photography as observation, interpretation and independent vision.
POSTRH is a photographic artist whose practice explores architecture, urban environments, human traces and the relationship between constructed space and individual perception.
Working predominantly in monochrome, POSTRH approaches photography as more than documentation. Architecture, light, surfaces and spatial relationships become elements of a personal visual language, moving between observation and interpretation.
The practice draws on experience in architectural photography, independent artistic projects and international exhibitions.
This perspective informs the selection philosophy of MONO ORBIT AWARDS. Technical accomplishment matters, but a compelling photograph is not necessarily the most technically elaborate. Its strength may lie in an unexpected observation, an individual interpretation or a distinctive way of seeing.
The photographic works featured across the MONO ORBIT AWARDS website banners are by POSTRH. They reflect the visual perspective behind the platform and its independent approach to photographic selection.
06 - THE CONTINUING ORBIT
An evolving photographic archive.
THE ORBIT 12 is designed to grow with each edition. Its purpose is not only to recognise distinctive photographic work, but also to preserve it within a wider editorial and artistic context.
We see photographic recognition as the beginning of a conversation, not its conclusion.
Each edition adds twelve individual perspectives to a continuing constellation of photographic work.
International monochrome photography award. €20 per entry. One to four photographs. Entries close 6 January 2027.
